It was raining pretty bad on my second day in Tokyo but I managed to walk around Chiyoda-ku for about 4.5 hours before it got too cold.
This crossing is just next to Hanzomon station. Not sure what those yellow lines are for, any ideas?
More lines I don’t understand, but I guess those are for cars.
Fire department just a couple of minutes from the hotel.
First fashion/brand ad spotted, not much around Chiyoda-ku.
Convenience stores are everywhere though!
Anyone been to Lon’s Dining? Any good?
Didn’t see anyone inside, lots of mobile phones on display though^^
Had to use the maps a lot, there are English/romaji ones available too.
Somehow found Yasukuni Shrine, so decided to give it a try.
First time seeing one of these^^
Smoking is banned pretty much everywhere in Chiyoda-ku, these were placed out around Yasukuni Shrine though and I saw a few people using them.
Heading towards a small pond.
Anyone knows what these are for?
Many statues and monuments to look at.
Koi fish!
You can feed the fish too.
Signs like this seen everywhere in Chiyoda-ku, also printed on the sidewalks.
Many places for rent in Chiyoda-ku too.
おまちください – Please wait, shows when you push the button. If you don’t push it, it says おしてください – Please press.
Sunkus in Hanzomon, a minute walk from Grand Arc Hanzomon.
Lawson is also nearby.
This can of coffee was way to sweet for me.
Yasukuni Shrine was very nice, it smelled really nice too, probably because of the rain. Good thing there are places like these around so it’s not all huge buildings!

Nice pics. The yellow lines are guides for the blind.
Oh I see, that makes sense^^
Lol poor Yonasu why you always get coffee? They never seem to make you happy lollol
anyways you know that dog? Well I’m not too sure if its the same dog but its veryvery intelligent and one famous story was that its owner left the dog by train or something like that and every single day the dog would go over to that same train station to wait for its owner:’( so yeah that’s one story about that dog.
Oh and the picture where you’re like “What are these for?” Lollol they look like those wells where the grudge was thrown inXD
It seems like a very nice time to walk around. The rain smells very good and people are very calm. Very nice.
Be safe Yonasu!!! And don’t get your stuff stolenXO
I love coffee, so kinda have to try them :P
Didn’t understand the text for that dog but you’re probably right!
Must be many grudges in Japan then!
Thanks!
Oh by the way…
Thank you so much for the pictures. They’re really nice pictures and you make very funny observationsXD
My pleasure, and thank you!^^
Time to move onto teas? :)
Haha yeah maybe I should^^
Since your in Japan I check your website/twatter 4-5times day. No pictues of Shibuya?
Please check out one of the Maido kissa caffe’s, I think the Mailish ones have high quality staff.
Thanks for visiting more often ;) Will publish lots of pictures but I can’t always be on the computer!
great photowalk pics, the shrine loonked so awesome and the rain added to the pictures
Hey man the yellow lines are for blind people guide themselves.
Even with the rain, the photos are great. I especially liked the ones of the shrine area.
Like Tori said, the raised yellow lines on the ground are for leading the blind. They have them here in Singapore as well, but only inside the train stations. I’ve never noticed them outside before. Doesn’t make sense to me. How can a blind person get to the MRT station to use them if there aren’t any outside?
Anyway, I’m glad to see you’re enjoying your trip despite the weather.
Thanks! Yeah that’s kind of weird, I guess the blind have to remember the route then =/
These pics are great, shame about the rain ;(
Two other thoughts –
They have 7 11 in Japan?!
I don’t know how I feel about traditional gardens having a clear view of skyscrapers in the background… It’s that incongruity you don’t find elsewhere…
Although I did read somewhere Rikugien Gardens is free of background filth because it’s on the outskirts of Tokyo.
p.s How do I add my profile pic? I must be going blond
Yeah, the rain only lasted for one day though so it’s fine. Yes! 7-Elevens are everywhere, as well as the other konbinis^^
