AKB48 fan buys 5500 copies of new single

One reason why AKB48 and many other idol groups hit so well on the Oricon charts, is because many fans buy multiple copies of their CDs. I’ve never done that myself, but I have bought all 3-4 versions of a single a couple of times before. Now, this sometimes gets to such an extreme level that it’s, well, a little bit creepy.

“Everyday, Kachuusha” sold 942,475 copies the first day, and 5500 were from just one person, for a total of 8.8 million yen (~$108,700). I don’t know about you, but I’d say that’s quite a bit of money for what you get, and I think he might have to get a bigger apartment. That said, although buying multiple copies isn’t the only way to show how much of a wota you are, I think we’re safe to say that he’s a big one, although I can’t spot a single poster in his room…

    That’s just simply crazy!!! I understand buying the regular + limited edition but buying 5000 copies, damn, that’s insane! And he spend 880,000 yen, that’s my salary for about 1 year of hard work.

    AUGH! Crazy! If anything, hopefully it’s just for senbatsu tickets… and hopefully he resells the singles to make back some of that money/get some space in his room! Who’s photo is he holding up? XD It doesn’t look like Acchan or Yuko… maybe I should check to see who has 5,500 votes?

      And yeah, unless he has some kind of huge AKB48 throne somewhere else in his house, he should prolly think about reselling a few of them :P

    doesn’t it somewhat falsify the oricon charts as well?

    in germany have been cases where people associated with either the artist oder the record company were paid to buy masses of copies of releases in order to have the artist rank higher in the charts. that also results in more tv appearances & more exposure to potential fans. i don’t want to imply in any way that AKB48 has something to do with this, i just wanted to point out that i doubt that this man is really a fan – he hasn’t even any other AKB48 related items in his flat & hides his face…

      Hiding your face is a common phenomenon in Japan and that’s not necessarily his AKB48 shrine^^ But yes, you could say it falsifies the charts, but they’d be there with or without him. The reason why he bought these CDs wasn’t to make them #1, but to get 5500 votes in the AKB48 senbatsu election. But I guess it’s the same thing really, as those 5500 votes would be used for his favorite member.

    dude, you do know that you can use those money you invested in these rubbish for helping a lot of those who’ve lost their homes in the tsunami and Fukushima nuclear incident, in YOUR OWN homeland right? 

    Anyway, if you’re so proud of yourself for buying all these stuff and “save” AKB48, why not show off your face?!

      It’s been 9 months but I coincidentally came across this stupid post. If you have no idea then better don’t say anything at all. Also AKB48 investigated a damn high number of money to the affected areas with this money.

      well, as a matter of fact, I do know about what AKB48 did at that time of the posting…
      That 9 months ago, I’m not angry about AKB48, I’m angry about this guy who was willing to spend (so much) of his money on some pretty worthless stuff instead of donating it right away to charity… As much as AKB48 has donated, what this guy did was not a very good example of how someone with lots of money should act when his country just survived a disaster. 

      Moreover, he obviously didn’t have in his mind that “AKB48 would take his money and donating it to the charity”, when he was purchasing those singles… He was thinking more on “I bought so much, I might stand a chance of getting to meet the AKB48 members face to face” or other geeky reason~

      But later on the news was proved to be fake… So this argument was kinda pointless anyway…

    Oh wow! Someone needs a girlfriend. This guy has some issues. Japan is dealing with one of its worst crisis in its history and this guy blows his cash on something like this. Japan is screwed because they have folks like this sad fella.

    many people in korea also buying a couple of CDs just cause of the registration number inside for signature-events where your number has to win for attending (100 people are able to win normally) so he wanna have AKB48 just for himself : P

      Yeah, it’s a fake. This guy is a CD RE-SELLER SHOP OWNER from China and according to some people, he admits this in his Mixi profile in late May after the frauld was discovered…
