Akihabara

in Japan

So yeah, I finally made it to Akihabara, and it was definitely as amazing as everyone says it is. Unfortunately for you, it was really too much fun for me so I didn’t manage to take a whole lot of pictures :P

On the way to Akiba (walked from Iwamotocho) there were a few Italians asking me where it was, but as it was my first time too, I couldn’t help them. I ended up walking in the right direction though :P

The first stop was Yodobashi Camera.

MUSICVOX on the way for those who make music.

Outside Yodobashi, this place is filled to the roof with electronics of all kinds.

Lots of cool gadgets by ELECOM, ended up buying two ELECOM things^^

Went to the Apple section to get a new case and earphones for it. I’ve been looking for a case that allows me to use straps since that’s something I always used and have missed since I got the iPhone. Found a simple case by ELECOM here that came with two kinds of straps (neck/pocket) and a little screen cleaner. As for earphones I got the standard iPhone ones as I want the on/off button and microphone.

Lots of Final Fantasy ads everywhere in Akiba, I saw those Final Fantasy cans too^^

There’s not a single person in this picture not holding a Nintendo DS, not one! Was really weird to walk through there :P

But the best part of Akihabara is probably the market-like shops, they’re everywhere and they sell everything. There’s almost always someone standing outside screaming out offers in a megaphone. On the top of that, things are often incredibly cheap!

Figures are of course seen at all times.

Life-sized ones too^^

I ended up spending about 6-7 hours in Akihabara but this is the only stuff I actually bought. Earphones, iPhone case, SD card reader, kame stickers, Hatsune Miku cellphone strap.

I’m thinking of going back there today to look at some other stuff actually, but we’ll see^^

I always like to stop at the 4 flour adult shop just outside of the main electric town :) Great pics, glad you enjoyed yourself!

Looks like you had fun in Akiba. This is your first visit to Japan, right? Savor it. That “first experience” feeling you only get once… did you get a look / walk-thru of old Akihabara? those areas are wild. enjoy your trip… look forward to more updates!

Yeah, it was my first time :) Yeah I think I went through old Akiba, but it was a lot to take in at once so I’m not sure haha. Had a great time though!

That electronics store looks like a place I could spend all day in. I’ve actually been looking for a case for my iPhone as well. I use a GPS route mapping program for when I go jogging, but I can’t seem to find an armband type case for it anywhere in Singapore. It’s driving me crazy trying to hold it in my hand while I jog.

Ah yeah, if you know how to order from Amazon.jp they have these cases there (hard versions too). I can’t live without phone straps^^;

Well, they’re cheaper than in Sweden for sure. But you can find the best deals in the smaller stores^^
