Last night I spent a couple of hours catching up on SHANGRI-LA, I believe I watched 7 episodes (they’re now at 18 out of 24). From what I’ve heard, most people got bored early in the series but I stuck with it and I really enjoy watching it now. The first two or three episodes weren’t that good, a little too much carbon dioxide gibberish. [click to continue…]

Peeping Life

Peeping Life is an anime of short skits made by popular Japanese comic-duos. I’m watching it on Crunchyroll and there’s 3 episodes so far. What I think is fun about this anime is that it’s “based on” real life situations. Don’t you just love watching other couples arguing over something totally pointless for example? As fun as every random school girl anime is, I’ve never seen an anime like this before and I think it’s fun to watch something you can connect to in a totally different way.

A couple of months back I found this great picture somewhere on Flickr. Unfortunately there was no description so I didn’t know where it came from, and that’s still the case. So I’m going to ask you, do you know where this is from? I hope it’s an anime or manga and not just a random drawing…

Naruto Shippuuden

Just watched it a couple of days ago, pretty good in my opinion. What did you think?

I’m sorry that I haven’t posted anything in a while, but I do have my reasons! You know I’ve been moving to a new apartment and that has taken up a lot of time. I’ll be taking more photos of the apartment once it’s finished, right now there’s not much to see, we’re getting new floors and wallpapers in every room.

Well, the moving isn’t my only reason, actually I’ve just spent a lot of time in bed watching anime, as with my previous room layout I couldn’t see my TV from my bed.

Naruto Shippuuden Movie 2: Bonds

Watched Naruto Shippuuden Movie 2: Bonds yesterday and thought it was pretty good, long time since I last saw Sasuke fight. It was a lot faster than usual though, in the series Naruto can spend like 3 episodes just to get 3-4 of Kyuubi’s tails while it was only a matter of seconds in this movie.

Oh and while we’re talking about anime, SHANGRI-LA episode 7 aired today, don’t miss it!

I’ve also been playing a game that I found out about through Danny Choo, it’s an eroge developed outside of Japan, of course in English. I’ve actually never played a game like this before and as it’s available for Mac and people are saying good things about it, I thought I should give it a try. The full game isn’t available yet, but they’ve released Act 1 which I’m not finished with yet. It feels a lot like reading a book, which I don’t do at all usually, the only difference is that I find this very entertaining. It’s probably because there’s more than text alone. I haven’t seen any adult content yet and I’m not sure they have any in this pre-release, but I don’t mind and I personally think that they should release the full game in two versions, one without adult content. I just like the story a lot, it’s different and very captivating. Read on about it at Danny Choo’s or check out the official site.

Katawa Shoujo

Well, now I’m off to play some more while eating breakfast!

Thanks to Danny Choo I found out about this anime, check his post if you’re looking for figures.

So Candy Boy is about two high school students in their daily life. Basically it’s a love story between two sisters, Yukino and Kanade Sakurai. I’ve seen 3 episodes so far, and I think there are 6 subbed episodes out at the time I’m writing this. I’ve already seen this developing in two a love triangle of sorts, and after watching episode 3 it’s starting to look more like a love rectangle between 3 sisters and a very stalker-ish girl.

I really don’t know what to expect, I have no idea what’s going to happen in the next episodes, but it’s cute!

Definitely check it out if you have some free time. Well, if you don’t like the idea of 2 (or possibly 3) sisters falling in love, you don’t have to watch it, haha.

So I’ve watched it, and to sum things up, loved it! I really like where it’s going, the first episode was a little complicated but everything seems to be falling in place. The story about the mysterious daggers continues and Duomo gets attacked by an artillery-like bombing that they believe comes from the forbidden jungle of Ikebukuro.

So what do you think about Kuniko so far? As for me, I think she’s really cute! For some reason I seem to be into the athletic ones at the moment, you know what I mean if you’ve seen this. I’m really looking forward to see more of Mikuni, you know the young one with heterochromia (one blue, one yellow eye). She really does something cool in this episode, don’t want to spoil though so I’ll leave it at that.

SHANGRI-LA Mikuni SHANGRI-LA Kuniko SHANGRI-LA Mi-ko

In the previous SHANGRI-LA post I mentioned the opening of this drama, it’s one of the better intros I’ve seen in a while, so I’ve embedded it once again. But in the second episode I also realized that the ending is super cool, it really blends in very well and it was especially well cut in this episode.

One thing I didn’t like very much in this episode was the outfits they had when they were in the jungle, it made Kuniko look really weird. But other than that there’s really nothing to complain about!

SHANGRI-LA

So I recently started watching a few animes, one of them being SHANGRI-LA. Actually I just watched the first episode but as it looks interesting I thought I should write up a little something about it. The story goes as follows.

The story is set in a neo-futuristic age, in which Tokyo has turned into the world’s largest “jungle-polis” that absorbs carbon dioxide. A tower city called Atlas houses the rich and privileged, and is the object of yearning of all that are not allowed to enter. But Atlas also has ancient secrets which cause a sudden whirl of events. Festooned by colorful characters such as a riotous teenage girl, a child genius, a juvenile princess, a drag queen, a female doctor, an army major, and an elderly gentleman and lady, SHANGRI-LA’s hard-core world view plays out as an anime action saga.

A striking vision of Earth’s future from some of Japan’s foremost creative talents, SHANGRI-LA is a tale of greed and division vs. bravery and the human spirit. Set against the backdrop of a Tokyo cityscape turned into a teeming jungle by runaway global warming, with the elite living in the comfort of the tower city, Atlas, and the less-privileged masses struggling in the squalor in the jungle – only one girl, Kuniko Hojo, and her band of guerrillas can find a way to preserve the future for everyone.

SHANGRI-LA Snapshot 1 SHANGRI-LA Snapshot 2 SHANGRI-LA Snapshot 3

I started watching this because I was in the mood of a futuristic anime and because I like the artist’s style. I just started watching Time of Eve as well (waiting for episode 5) .

The first episode was good, yet a little confusing at times, they talked a lot about the economy and there was a lot of carbon dioxide babble. What made the first episode good to me was the interesting characters and the mystery behind them. So I’m definitely looking forward to finding out more about them in the coming episodes. Here’s the OP, I’m loving it!
