Black & White Wall Collage

in Japan

I can’t say that I’ve been very creative as of late, so I’ve decided to do something about that. I moved to a new apartment about a year ago and now we’re done with getting new floors, painting and whatnot. Thing is, the walls are all white and the room feels pretty empty. So instead of putting up a wallpaper or painting the walls in some other color, I’ve decided to use the wall behind me as a big ass canvas for a black & white photo collage.

The goal is to eventually fill the whole wall, but to do that I’m going to need around 300 photos. The first batch, which I just ordered via Flickr yesterday, contains 106 photos in three different sizes.

In the first batch I’m getting 67 10×15, 33 11×17 and 6 20×30 photos. Since the jump between 11×17 and 20×30 is pretty big, I might get another size in the second batch, but we’ll have to see how it all turns out first.

The photos will probably arrive tomorrow or on Thursday so you’ll have to wait for the result until then. But below are all the photos from the first batch. All the photos of Japan are taken by me and the rest are idol/celeb pictures.

20×30 Photos

11×17 Photos

10×15 Photos

First batch was only $24 including shipping for $8! Can’t wait to get them!^^

What do you put on your walls?

That sounds like a pretty nice idea. I was thinking of doing something like that with pictures of Japan in the big empty space on my wall in your room, but your idea sounds much better :D

Yeah I think it’ll look really nice when it’s done :D I considered doing it in color, but I think it’ll look much nicer in black and white^^

You should place them mosaic style to create one big image; hehe just kidding, can’t imagine how much work this would take… Either way, this collage will generate some very specific dreams…

I’d need miniature photos to do that, but it would be cool :P I have those very specific dreams without the collage actually, but maybe we’re not talking about the same kind of dreams xD

The only chance Koharu has to end up on my wall is if I put up an old pic of Momusu, which probably won’t happen :P

Really cool idea, I look forward to seeing the finished wall! Definitely a good choice to go black-and-white. I’d love to do something like that when I have my own place.
