Reading books is something I rarely do, in my life I’ve probably read no more than 8 books, if we don’t count the stuff I’ve been forced to read. I tried to read the Lord of the Rings books, but that kind of stuff just bores me (although the movies are amazing). I don’t like reading books that aren’t based on true stories and when I do read, I want to learn something from it.
So here’s two books that you’ve probably heard of, Blink by Malcom Gladwell and Gut Feelings by Gerd Gigerenzer. Although I did read the synopsis and a few reviews, the taglines were just really awesome so I had to give them a try ^^;
Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking
Gut Feelings: The Intelligence of the Unconscious
Blink is apparently a number one international bestseller so I have high hopes! Malcom Gladwell’s previous book, The Tipping Point, was also recommended to me by @ideographique, so if I like Blink I’ll buy a copy of that one as well.
If you’ve read any of these books I’d be happy to know your opinion on them.

Two good books to get into. Its’ interesting the tittle Gut Feeling. That’s how most of us instinctively react if we don’t know what the outcome is going to be. But according to a book on Winning by Suzy Welch and watch her being interviewed by Suzy Lou of Bloomberg (hope got her name correct. I’m a big fan). Winning is not about your gut instinct. Go figure. I’ll go with my gut anytime.
Your second choice Blink. Like the idea of instant judgement. But I get caught flat footed in this situation to much. i.e: My plane U.S.Air was delayed since this was my second time in a week to be delayed by the Airline. Told them to cancel my flight and will fine an alternative way to get home. Guess What, No car rental that day. So have to go back to the ticket agent and ask for a favor. Luckily she help out. 2nd. Time is selling my Stocks at the right time. Wrong always either to early or to late. Guess that’s the difference in most of us people.
Peace out.
ps: can’t wait to see the next generation Panasonic Camera. I research the one you have and the stats similar to my Nikon D200.
I read blink last month. It’s a pretty good book! Glad you picked it up. ^^.
I’ve actually never read either of those, or heard of them, but I thought Lord of the Rings was an incredible set of books. I’m more into the Fantasy and Sci-Fi books. I guess when I read I want to be entertained, though I don’t mind if I learn something along the way about life or life lessons or something like that.
This is off topic, but I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the app that’s running on your iPhone in this photo. I want.
Hehe okay, learning can be entertaining as well! I’ve just never enjoyed reading fiction, except for manga of course.
The app is Danny Choo’s Mirai Clock ;)
I like manga!
Thanks for the tip about the app! Is it a battery killer?
It’s more of a battery killer than Flip Clock, but I always have it connected to the computer anyways as I make sure that it’s fully charged when I go out^^
looks like some awesome books you got there. I’ve been trying to start reading a lot again, but my “to read” list is so long.
Well, it’ll only grow longer and longer if you don’t start :P
I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks.
I see you are having Mirai app in your Iphone. ^^
Yup! And I love it!^^
