Maybe I’m starting to become one of those Apple fanboys already, ’cause I definitely want the iPhone 3G. When the iPod Touch got released here in Sweden I wasn’t very surprised of it’s capabilities at all, I thought it was completely pointless without 3G. But now when the iPhone 3G is finally here, my opinion has changed (yes, even before I’ve tried it). The main reason why I know I’m going to like the new iPhone so much is actually not because of the 3G, it’s because of the features and possibilities it gives me. I could go on and on about all the features I like, but I’ll just bring up the most important ones for now.
MobileMe
MobileMe is a service for all of your devices (including PCs) that keeps everything up to date with Push email, Push contacts and Push calendar, which is something I don’t have, but really need. I’m especially in need of Push calendar since I tend to forget stuff I have to do. I need to be able to put my schedule and all appointments in a mobile device that’s in sync with my computer and any other device I might be using. I can’t see a better way to do this than on the iPhone.
GPS
I’ve lived in Gothenburg for 19 years now and I do still get lost sometimes. A GPS is something I’d really use a lot, I like exploring new places and a GPS makes it so easy to find whatever I’m looking for, like a café or a restaurant.
Language Support
Since the release of the iPhone 3G is worldwide, it will have support for Japanese. Without that I wouldn’t even be thinking of getting it, support for Japanese in a device like this will really come in handy for studying purposes.
Third-Party Apps
Imagine how cool the apps for the iPhone will be with location based apps, games and social networks. The social networks are already there, but as far as I know, most networks use text messaging at the moment, which can be troublesome when you need to type in the exact address for something.
The iPhone 3G has it all, it’s a revolutionary device and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
So, are you going to get an iPhone 3G, or do you already have the old version? I’m interested in knowing so leave a comment before you go!

I was it on apple’s homepage, it’s going to be released even in my country. And I will try it in stores. I think best change is that now any headphone can be used not just the “bad” regular one. The first Iphone wasnt to good in tests when it was about music. Samsungs similar tough phone seemed better in tests but its not that good looking than the Iphone. I’m worried about scratchez on the back and on the screen when touching it each day. And if the endprice is really around199$ then it’s worth a thought. I woudn’t buy it for the price of the old one400-500$ was too much for a non 3g design toy. I still think the bluetooth will be limited like in the Iphone one, so you cant send any type of files with whireles or bluetooth. And I dont know how this Itunes works, can I upload any MP3 from my PC on it? Or only songs what i bought on Itues for money? I want to be able to use my illegaly downloaded mp3’s.
And does it have MP3 ringtone? I heard the first gen didnt have that.
I don’t see why the first iPhone would get bad results in tests, everyone loved it, the touch is great and so is the iPhone for music (at least according to the people I know who has an iPhone). If you’re worried about scratches you can always use a skin or a iPod sock for protection. The end price will probably be a bit higher since the $199 is just the price for the phone itself, you also need to pay for the 3G service. I don’t know where you got that information about limited bluetooth and wireless, I’m pretty sure that’s not correct information. iTunes is just another media player, it works with all your mp3s. As for ringtones I’m not sure actually, the first gen doesn’t have support for mp3 ringtones, but it’s easy to go around just by converting the file or changing the extension so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Well well, give it a try in the store, the interface is lovely!
I’m trying to pre-order one now but no-one can tell me when that will be available. http://www.apple.com/jp/iphone/buy/
I can’t wait to get one, after seeing the Keynote speach the other day and the demos from the SDK developers i am super pumped to get this amazing device!!
I don’t think you can pre-order it on Apple’s site since you have to activate it in store O_o
So after a year I wonder how much you like your phone?
I like it more now than I used to!^^ Mainly because there are more awesome apps available now.
Did you hear that apple removed app’s from the app store that can free up memory? I checked it and most are gone, or they make an update for them that removed this function, so don’t update memory freeing applications like Free memory and similar…. Stupid apple sometimes it makes no sense what they do. They want us to reboot instead?
I dunno, never heard of apps like that!
