Ginza

in Japan

Of course I also had to visit Ginza during my month in Tokyo. I decided to go on a Sunday since they close the main street down for traffic on weekends (thanks Chris for letting me know!).

Ginza is pretty much a huge street with huge buildings with brands on them. I made a stop at Matsumoto KiYoshi (seen above) to buy an eyelash curler for my mother, I was confused to say the least…

I didn’t go in to many of the stores actually, you don’t really have to go in to know what they offer.

Most of the buildings in Ginza have really impressive designs, but the Dior building doesn’t have any windows (at least on this side of the building) which must suck for their employees…

Sure didn’t expect to see Suzuran in Ginza, I’m guessing it doesn’t have any connection with the Suzuran in Crows Zero though.

Definitely weird to see people taking a break in the middle of the street!

The distance between the tables is pretty long though which is weird, perhaps it’s not luxurious enough for the rich people in Ginza^^

Another weird thing about Ginza is the amount of rich Chinese people. Honestly I think I heard more Chinese than Japanese here!

Apple seemed to very popular here too, the store was packed.

I made a quick visit to Matsuya Ginza before I went to Matsumoto KiYoshi to check out the Shiseido stuff they had (again, for my mother), but they didn’t have what I was looking for.

Jimmy Choo is everywhere, Danny must be so proud^^

A good thing to keep in mind is that everything is expensive in Ginza. I saw a beige muffler for over 50,000 yen that looked exactly like the one I saw at Daiso in Harajuku, except for the tiny label. I paid a thousand yen for a cup of coffee and a small sandwich, not super expensive but definitely more than you usually pay. Then of course there are all these watches for millions of yen and shit.

Yamaha’s building is really cool, it definitely stands out from the rest.

But the Swarovski entrance is probably the most impressive thing in Ginza.

While Ginza is definitely a cool place to visit because of the architecture, the shopping really isn’t anything for me. I do like luxury, but to an extent. I’ll do my shopping in Shibuya and Harajuku next time I go to Japan too.

What do you think about Ginza?

Thanks, it’s my pleasure! And yeah, it’s definitely worth a visit, but don’t expect to buy too much unless you’re filthy rich^^

Haha, you’re turning into an Apple fanboy :P I don’t really have much of an interest in these brands, mostly a waste of money even if I could afford some of it. The “ginzagirls” are everywhere^^

Dior isn’t a waste of money, it gives you a feeling of superiority, that only the original ones give you. Plus its a smal hint of being successful if you can afford them, and not that many people wear is so your an elite minority, and can look dont on other middle class brands like Armani, or Rayban.

Ok maybe Dior is mainstream in Sweden because all the oil money there. Here it’s not that common. :D
