Everyone knows that the iPhone isn’t a cheap mobile device. When I got mine on the release date, I paid almost $600. However, by doing so I got a much lower monthly fee. In fact, if we look at how much I pay each month, the iPhone is the cheapest phone I’ve ever had. My monthly fee is only $5.70 and with that I get to send 5000 text messages for free, every month. So adding the costs for calls and other services I end up paying approximately $9 to $10 per month. So yeah, having an iPhone is a actually a real pleasure in that factor as well.
Well, there’s another reason why it’s so cheap for me actually. I’ve turned off 3G, and that saves me $12 each month. I can do this because pretty much everywhere I am, there’s an open wireless network than I can use. And even if I turned it on, I’d end up at a reasonable price, actually somewhere around what I used to pay before I had the iPhone.

What… You are lucky to have a low monthly rate. Here in the U.S., the tele companies like to charge A LOT. I’m on the minimum $60 plan and that doesn’t include 3G! (only EDGE). After “taxes”, it ends up being around $75 a month. I also paid $600 for my iPhone 2.5G (a week after its release).
Haha wow, I had no idea! I probably should’ve used higher values in the poll, lol. $60 for the minimum plan sounds insane to me… Yay for Sweden I guess ^^
Same as Viet, I pay up the arse… but even worse because I’m on 3G! Argh, I’m tempted to give up my iPhone and go back to my beautiful flip, but the iPhone is so convenient. >_<
Paying up the arse is never a good thing! You could give up 3G before giving up on it completely though :P
But flip phones are my favorites actually, there’s just no good ones here except the Razer which is very average apart from the looks.
Hands down it’s the best technology purchase i’ve ever made.
I spend 22$ a month and that inculdes the monthly unlimited 3G and wifi browsing fee, plus my topup. I don’t talk more than 8$ a month, so it’s really cheap.
I went for the “pay and go” non-contract 16GB iPgone 3G from O2, and the phone was 606$ 1.5years ago. Still happy with it.
