Humming Urban Stereo

I first got to know about Humming Urban Stereo about a year and a half ago, and I guess I didn’t post anything up until now since it’s a Korean band, and maybe because I was lazy. HUS is an electronic trio and would probably best be categorized as bossa nova, jazz and lounge. The band consists of leader Lee Jeereen (vocals, keyboard) and two female vocalists, Humming-Girl and Shina-E.

I bought two of their albums in early 2008 and have listened to them since then, I’m looking into buying the albums I don’t have yet as they were out of stock when I tried back then. The chance of them being in stock now is probably even smaller though…

They sing in both Korean and English and there are both upbeat songs like Hawaiian Couple and Banana Shake as well as slow songs such as Casker and Goldie. My favorite song is Casker by the way.

Gotta find a place to put this sticker on, perhaps on my MacBook since it’s white?

They’re similar to another Korean band that actually goes by the name Casker, Instant Romantic Floor and Clazziquai Project (at least before their album Robotica).

If you like this kind of music and know of anything else like it, let me know! Doesn’t matter where it’s from ;) I think I have a few more artists like this in store as well.

Oh and yes, before I end this post I just want to ask something. Have you noticed any bugs or anything with the new design? Let me know if you have so I can fix it!

A couple of things:

1) Pizzicato 5 sort of started the genre. i would assume you had heard of them.

2) Arling and Cameron are another good loungy, bossanova sort of groove.

3)To get more electro/rockier, no band is better then Stereolab. Emperor Tomato Kethup and Mars Audiac Quintet are must-haves.

Guess I’m old school. Prefer 5 6 7 8′s. to Pizzicato 5 and more of the Domo Arigato Mr. Robato. to Arling and Cameron. But me talking, I know when it comes to which is prefferable. Different strokes for different folks.

First I was sceptical as it’s not Japanese music, but I did like some of their songs. 2of the 3 on your site I like.

I’ve been listening to them a while now too.
The first time I heard of them was at the dramabeans.com blog.
She has alot of intresting korean bands in her posts.
But I love Clazziquai even if I prefer their older material, and Loveholic was great but now unfortunately their vocalist Jisun went solo.
