Kirsten Dunst is Turning Japanese

February 25, 2010 · 6 comments

in Japan

Kirsten Dunst teamed up with the famous Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and made a cover of Vapor’s “Turning Japanese”, and “Akihabara Majokko Princess” is the result.

So far it has mainly received bashing, so I guess I’m one of the few first ones to praise it. While “Piling cliché upon cliché” (CNNGo) is very much true, I think the video is freaking cool. Although, it feels more like something that would come out of a YouTube collaboration than a professional production. Some Japan YouTube vloggers and applemilk1988 instead of Kirsten Dunst and this would have been even more epic^^

I got through about 1:30 of it before I decided it was crap and shut it off. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate the display of classic anime memes. I just think it sounded like crap.

Wow, you and me man… I love it, too. But then, I really liked the original song as well.
