Back in August I wrote about the movie Koizora, starring Aragaki Yui and Miura Haruma. Koizora which is based on a story that was popularized on the cell phone novel site, Mahou no Land, became a big sensation and has since it’s creation become a novel, a movie and a drama. While the movie is based on the original story, the drama is based on the movie. In fact, the two are so alike that I was a bit disappointed, or should i say bored, when seeing the story another time.
Having that said, I can’t say that the drama isn’t as good as the movie. But as they’re so alike, I recommend seeing the one with actors you prefer, which is why I chose the movie in the first place, because of Aragaki Yui. However, as the Kanto ratings for the drama are very low (I’m not sure why), you’re probably better off with the movie, I guess the story fits better in a 2 hour movie than a six episode drama.

Starring as the leading characters in the drama is Mizusawa Elena as Tahara Mika, and Seto Koji as Sakurai Hiroki. You should at least see the story once, but I probably wouldn’t see the drama if I knew that they were so alike.

I like the movie much more, and after watching it I couldn’t watch the drama, because it was a little bit boring)) And I agree that they should had made the drama more different from the movie! Besides, I love Miura Haruma, and I think he performed better)) But the story is quite touching. I think, especially girls would like it :)
The story is very touching, in fact, I cried when watching the movie. This is definitely something girls would like, but it’s such a great story so it should be appreciated by guys as well ^^

It happens a lot with Japanese dramas. Tokyo Tower (the most recent version) is one case where I enjoyed the TV show more than the movie. Possibly because the closing theme was “Tsubomi” by Kobukuro.
Haha! I was googling some info on the drama and what do you know.. your site popped up! I cried my freaking eyes out watching the movie, I’m going to try and watch all 6 episodes of the drama tonight..so far they’re way more different than I had expected!

i think i like the the drama series…for me seto koji and elena are attractive to me…i cry in this drama as in…i like it that much…
Well, that´s not true. The Drama is not based on the movie!
While the Movie version was a mere simplefied summary of the first book that left out a whole lot, did the Drama unite the first (“Koizora”) and the second book (“Kimizora”) and made a well-rounded and very realistic version out of Mika´s story.
Personally, I prefer the Drama version even over the original book, the Manga and the Movie. This young cast was awesome. Koji and Elena had great chemistry, like a real couple. The emotions ran free from both and painted a very real and touching picture.
I see, my source may have been unreliable but that’s the information I had when I wrote this post. Either way I think they’re very much alike, and of course the movie had to leave out stuff or else it would be a veeery long movie ^^
But even if the drama is more true to the original story, I still think the movie was a lot better. It probably boils down to preference of actors and wheter you’ve read the original story or not.
