Longest Drama Title Ever?Published on December 6th, 2010.
Speaking of Erika Toda via my last post, I have news of her upcoming project. In a drama with the longest title I’ve ever encountered, Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta, Erika will be teaming up with Haruma Miura playing an engaged couple (Natsumi Uemura and Shuji Kashiwagi) whose relationship is tested when Shuji becomes involved with a young girl. I am literally translating the title as The Important Things, You Taught Them All to Me.
Natsumi and Shuji are both teachers at a high school and are set to marry within 6 months. Before the new semester begins, Shuji is swayed from Natsumi by a young girl name Hikari (played by Emi Takei). He later finds out Hikari is among one of his students at school. Awwwkward and BUSTED! Hikari also tries to get close to Natsumi in order to ruin her relationship with Shuji. Can love be mended and can it last now that it has been injured?
This will be a very adult role for Erika and translating the feelings of being betrayed will require some subtleties. Crying constantly isn’t going to cut it for me. I have faith in her though so I’m am looking forward to her performance. The show is set to air in January of 2011.
