MinxZone Coming to UppCon:10

in Events, Japan

UppCon is the biggest Japan and east asian pop culture convention in all of Scandinavia, held in Uppsala, Sweden. This year, UppCon is teaming up with avex to bring some more great Japanese artists and bands to Sweden, and MinxZone is the first band to be added to the list. MinxZone consists of Yukari (vocals), Ayuha (drums) and Waio (guitar) and together they make some really great happy kind of pop-rock. The band started off as with street performing but is now signed on major label. This is going to be their first time visiting and performing in Sweden.

In 2008, MinxZone traveled to Australia and performed in many different cities there, and they even managed to get their song Vinyl Umbrella in a TV commercial for David Jones. The band also performed live in Vancouver at the Anime Evolution 2009 convention.

UppCon is a big event with around 3000 visitors. Besides bringing Japanese artists to Sweden they also have everything else a convention should have, such as movie theaters, cosplayers, games, contests, fashion shows, karaoke and pretty much anything you can think of.

UppCon:10 will be held in Uppsala, Sweden for three days (April 09 – 11). MinxZone performs on the 10th. I will be there this year and will cover as much as possible here on the blog, if you’re going, let me know so we can meet! ;)

I’ve seen Minxzone a couple of times performing outside Shinjuku Station so the news that they’ve signed to a major label makes me happy. They’re a great group and such friendly people as well even if we didn’t understand each other that well when we had a chat!
