Tenshi no Koi

I haven’t really been looking forward to any Japanese movies lately, although I have seen a few really good ones, like Tokyo! (highly recommended). Last time I really looked forward to a movie was probably… Crows Zero 2. But now there’s something new to look forward to!

Tenshi no Koi stars our one and only Sasaki Nozomi who I’ve seen in Kami no Shizuku (Spring 2009 drama), which I think was her drama debut. Although I’m not 100% sure because there’s no info about her on DramaWiki and I’m way too lazy to look elsewhere^^; Either way, she did a rather fine job in Kami no Shizuku, but this looks like it could be even better. This will be her second time starring in a movie and this time she will have Tanihara Shosuke by her side, yay! [click to continue…]

I seriously can’t wait any longer for the DVD to come out, but I can’t go and see it at the movies so I’ll have to wait… Well, here’s the trailer and a few photos if you haven’t heard or seen anything of it yet. The first one was so badass and I bet this one will be even more so!

Crows Zero 2

For some weird reason I always forget this dude’s name, even though I’ve seen countless of times…

Crows Zero 2

Crows Zero 2

Ogushun is really great with these kind of characters, he’s also good in comedy dramas/movies!

Crows Zero 2

Not too fond of the white outfits.

Real OnigokkoJust finished watching this movie called Real Onigokko starring Tanimura Mitsuki and Ishida Takuya. It’s a really weird movie about this guy who is transported to a parallel world where The Imperial is hunting down everyone whose surname is Satou because there are too many people with that name. Just watch the trailer and you’ll understand why this is a must watch.

Thanks to Drazic from HaroRangers for recommending it!

Koisuru Madori

A few days ago I finally got to watch Koisuru Madori, a Japanese movie (obviously), starring Aragaki Yui. The movie is about a college student who moves into her own apartment for the first time, after her sister decided to go for a shotgun marriage. With little to no experience in adult life and love, she develops a crush on her neighbor and co-worker, Takashi. However, it turns out that Takashi’s girlfriend, who left him without a notice, used to live there, which makes for some awkward moments.

I think this movie is really cute, well, Aragaki Yui’s in it so it can’t be anything but cute I guess. I love the intro music, so I gotta get my hands on the soundtrack. Here’s the trailer: [click to continue…]

Koizora (the movie)

Very few movies and dramas has brought me to tears, four to be exact. But some days ago it happened again, the fifth movie/drama which has now brought me to tears is Koizora. One thing that’s for sure is that I’m not alone on this. The original story of Koizora, by the author Mika, was popularized on the cell phone novel site, 魔法のらんど (Mahou no Land), and since then it has been turned into a novel, a movie, and now a drama. The drama will be based on the movie, which follows the life of a normal high school girl who experiences many unbelievably sad events, but through it all proving that love conquers all, and this true love story remains unchanged from the movie. Not only does it simply portray the first love of the high school students, it shows the warmth from the family, the importance of life, the bonds with friends, and the common happenings of teens, and through it all Mika and Hiro’s love story gets unwound.

This is well worth watching, thanks to LvB for the recommendation, that guy’s always up to date when it comes to Gakki. The acting is good, the script is good, it’s just perfect. Having a movie and a drama with the same name is kind of messed up though.

Marathon, 말아톤

Been watching a lot of Korean movies lately, it’s just weird how they manage to make pretty much every movie so great. Koreans probably make the best movies in the world at the moment, at least in the drama category, Japan gets the second place and the US a solid third place. When it comes to TV series though, they all make good stuff.

marathon

Anyway, Marathon is one of my favorite movies of all time, it’s in my top two along with Maundy Thursday, another Korean movie. Marathon stars Seung-woo Cho who plays as an autistic man called Cho-won, who as a young boy refused to communicate with anyone, bit himself and was troublesome in many ways. But his mother was determined to show everyone that he could be a normal boy, and as he got older he found passion in running, and his mother was right there to encourage him. Cho-won takes the third place in a 10 kilometers running contest, which causes her mother to set a new, higher goal for him; to run a marathon under four hours. To make this happen, Cho-won’s mother hires a former marathon runner who has been punished to perform 200 hours of community service for drunk driving as a coach. The movie shows the emotional struggles of a mother who isn’t sure if she’s forcing her son to run, or if it’s really his passion.

marathon

This movie is really touching and the acting is just amazing. I’ve only seen Seung-woo Cho in this movie, but I can without a doubt say that he’s one hell of an actor. Lee Gi-yeong, Cho-won’s coach, also plays his role perfectly. Even though I see new faces all the time, I’m always surprised of how good Korean actors are in general, both male and female, I wonder why that is…

Another great thing is the soundtrack, just like my other favorite movies, Marathon has a great set of tracks which with the help of the great acting will make you either cry or smile. The first track in the trailer below is called 지하철에서 (Ji Ha Chul Eh Suh) and is my favorite track from the CD.

I want you to watch this movie and tell me how much you liked it, ’cause you will like it. Highly recommended!
