Now Using WordPress

Welcome to the new yonasu.com!

I finally decided to make the switch from Blogger to WordPress, the reasons for doing so started to build up, so it was about time. I was very satisfied with Blogger overall, it’s a really good service, especially for being completely free. But it’s lacking some features that I’m in need of now. I’m also saying good bye to Disqus and third-party comments, Disqus has served me well but it’s time for WordPress 2.7 to take over.

As for the design, you can see that it’s also new. It was too troublesome to move my template ‘KAME’ from Blogger to WordPress, so I decided to use a template and modify it to my liking, and I think it turned out really well. Feedback is very much appreciated. The history of KAME is available in the about section.

I might have forgotten about a few things so please let me know if you find broken links and bugs.

There has been three transfers before this one (domain changes and blogger comments to Disqus), and that resulted in loss of comments. I’ve tried to regain those comments for this final (hopefully) transfer, although I had to do some of it manually I got most of them into the WP database.

Known Issues

  • The RSS feed hasn’t been transferred to FeedBurner yet, it’ll be transferred in 24-48 hours. So you don’t need to subscribe to any new feeds, the old feed will be used.
  • Some comments might be missing, if you see a post that should have comments but doesn’t, please make a comment on that post (saying that comments are missing) and I’ll fix it.
  • There are still a few broken links here and there, let me know by commenting on the post if you find any.

Thanks! I think it’s a pretty nice theme :) Still got stuff to customize though!

Nice new look! I really like it! I need to get on making a custom theme myself.

You’re quitting Disqus? I like it because it saves comments over several platforms, but I didn’t realize there was another system that also had the “Reply To” function.

Looking forward to updates again!

The new WordPress 2.7 has threaded and paginated comments. I quit using Disqus because there’s really no need for it in WP 2.7, and using a third-party for comments is troublesome when you need to transfer to a new domain or new hosting. But I do like Disqus!

Nice, fresh new look. If it were me, I’d like to see a little more colour variation (greys and gradients – etc). White can be hard on the eyes sometimes. Otherwise, looks good!

Thanks! Good thing I managed to fix the issue with the RSS feed so I didn’t lose all my readers ^^

Disqus is the best blog commenting software out there mate. I been recently using it for my own website and my traffic increased from 100 Uniques to 221 per day. Not much but it still makes a difference.

I prefer WordPress’ commenting system though, and traffic didn’t increase for me when I switched to Disqus either. I don’t dislike it though…

It does?! Hm… *goes to disable Disqus* >_> I’ve been using WP 2.7 for nearly a month now and didn’t know this, how terrible XD;

Haha! It’s really nice, I like that you can reply to comments from the admin panel as well ^^

I still like Disqus, since it has easy integration into Facebook Connect, among other things, like letting people do video comments easily. The guy who runs disqus is a cool frood, too :)

Disqus is still good, I don’t know what I would do without it when I was using Blogger who doesn’t have a decent comment system. I didn’t know about the Facebook integration though!
