Oh! My Girl!!Published on January 28th, 2009.
What would you do if your sister went to Hollywood for a few months and left her 6-year-old kid to you? And keep in mind that you’ve cut all ties with your sister and hate her more than anyone else.
Well, this is the case for Yamashita Koutarou, a part-time publisher and mobile novelist who’s been living peacefully and working on his dream to publish a book. As his sister, Ozora Hinako, left Japan to work on her acting career in Hollywood, Koutarou is the only one left in the family to take care of Sakurai Ann. The fact that Ozora Hinako is the mother of Sakurai Ann is a secret to protect Hinako’s career, Koutarou and Ann are therefore forced to live under the same roof and keep that secret to protect both Hinako’s and Ann’s acting careers safe. Along with Ann comes her manager, Fuji Mineko, a pretty immature young woman who shares the caretaking with Koutarou. Although Koutarou doesn’t like the fact that he has to take care of his sister’s child, he slowly comes to appreciate having a family and learning about being a parent.
I didn’t expect much from this drama, the ratings are pretty low after all, but as I got it as a recommendation, I decided to give it a try. And I’m glad I did so because it turned out to be a very good drama that I would highly recommend. Lots of new faces for me as well, I have yet to watch Hayami Mokomichi (Koutarou) in Zettai Kareshi and I’ll definitely keep an eye on Yoshida Riko (Ann) in the future.
