Oricon Charts: the 17th week of 2011

Published on April 28th, 2011.

Kanjani8 topped the singles chart for the third consecutive time with “T.W.L / Yellow Pansy Street”. This is their 11th no.1 single, out of 16 singles overall. Meanwhile, B’z has surpassed their cumulative single sales this week at 35,012,000 copies sold, which also includes 15 million-selling singles. They are the first Japanese artists to exceed 35 million in single sales (with Mr.Children in second place at 28,178,000 copies).

In the albums chart, Oda Kazumasa has achieved his fifth consecutive no.1 album with “Domo”, and his ninth in total. He has now become the artist with the longest career to top the chart with a 41-year career (including his time with OFF COURSE), surpassing Michael Jackson’s 40-year career (including his time with The Jackson 5). At the age of 63 years and 7 months, he has defeated Akimoto Junko’s record as the oldest artist to top the charts.
