Panasonic Lumix LX3

I’ve been thinking for quite some time about getting a new camera. I was actually leaning towards buying an HD video camera and continue to roll with my old Sony Cyber-Shot 6mp camera. But as the prices for a decent HD video camera are pretty high I decided to look for something else. So I ended up looking at Canon’s G10 and Panasonic’s LX3. And after watching a few videos on YouTube I decided to go with the LX3 instead on the G10 as both the audio and video quality was a lot better. I also got some great replies on Twitter that made me confident about my choice, thanks!

I really like the look of it, it’s like a modern retro, if that makes any sense. I’m a newbie when it comes to photography though, so don’t expect too much from me! I bought the Lumix from a Swedish online store for $595 in total, I added a high speed 4 GB SD card and that also includes shipping. I didn’t bother to check any sites outside of Sweden as I would have had to pay customs and whatnot anyways. It’s a lot of money, but I guess it’s a decent price for a camera like this, the G10 was like $125 more.

For some reason, the LX3 reminds me of a BAB (big ass boat) when the flash is up, is it just me or do you agree?

I haven’t really played with it a whole lot yet, I just finished charging the battery and I’ve been moving stuff around all day (preparations for Friday when I move to the new apartment). I think I’m gonna play with it tonight though, but if I don’t, I’ll definitely take some more photos tomorrow. I also have a few ideas for video recordings so I might upload some videos to YouTube soon.

Well, that’s all I had to say about my new toy! Peace out!

What the… I have no idea why it’s not there?!? That’s really weird! XD

Ha! It’s photoshopped, yonasu’s camera is NOT a Mega O.I.S., check the pixels and you’ll know =)

Canon’s point and shoot cameras are good, but I personally think Panasonics are designed better! I really love that old-fashioned look their cameras sport. I was thinking about buying one, but I opted to go the full monty and get a DSLR instead as I’m much more serious about photography.

Can’t wait to see what you do with this new camera.

Also, re: missing red text… that’s pretty weird!

How much did you pay for your camera + equipment?

I’m still experimenting with the settings and everything, there’s a lot of stuff I haven’t cared to learn before! But I’m starting to get how things work now :)

I’m already in love with it, wide-angle lens in 16:9 is awesome!

Woot~! It’s a nice cam! You won’t regret it!

I got mine not so long ago~ Have been using it for most of my photos ever since.

Sweet! It seems like many bloggers choose this camera for some reason ^^

I’ve finally gone with a Casio Z1200 instead as I highly prefer their design/usability but LX3 is a great camera as well…

I think Danny Choo uses this camera as well. Happy shooting! :)

Are you talking about the exif? I just gave him the benefit of the doubt and implied that he used photoshop only to resize the images before uploading them.

Haha it’s not photoshopped! Or well, actually it is, but it’s only cropped…

My friend sold me her old DSLR for super cheap, $200 for the body with an 18-55mm lens and 4GB CF card. I ended up buying a better lens for it for $400, so $600 total — not bad at all since it does its job well!

If you have any questions about camera settings, feel free to ask me. I’m not a wiz, but I’ve worked with enough to help with troubleshooting. ^^

I didn’t realize the LX3 shot in RAW mode! That’s really incredible. Now I’m tempted to sell my old point and shoot and buy that as my pocket camera.

That’s a sweet deal, lucky you! I’m not a wiz either but I think RAW is the uncompressed file type that you work with in Photoshop (or other image editing software) afterwards?

Well anyways, thanks! I’ll go to you when I have questions^^
