Piana is a Japanese female artist.
Her musical activity began with Card Skepper, a collaboration with guitarist Yuichiro Iwashita who participates now in an electro acoustic unit Minamo (cubic music, quakebasket, apestaartje, 360 records).In June 2003, she released her first album “snow bird” on a Japanese label, cubic music. In November “snow bird” was licensed to happy label in New York for worldwide release. In October 2005, she released her second album “ephemeral” on happy label.In December 2005, she went on the 7 cities tour (including Stockholm, Sweden) as a launching tour for “ephemeral”.In March 2006, she visited Oslo, Norway to shoot the music video of “something is lost”, the first track of her 2nd album.Her warm, innocent & beautiful voice and sentimental, lyrical music which soaks easily to listener’s mind, were highly praised internationally.Now she is making a collaboration mini-album with Her Space Holiday and Joseph Nothing.
Piana has definitely become one of my favorite artists, but the fact that she toured in Sweden without me knowing it, makes me cry a little. I’ve recommended Piana to a few friends before and they all love her, so I bet you will too. She has a truly angelic voice!
