Artists:

  1. Amuro Namie
  2. YUI
  3. aiko
  4. Hamasaki Ayumi
  5. YUKI

Actresses:

  1. Aragaki Yui

If I were to vote I would also put Gakki in the first place for actresses. As for artists, Kamei Eri!

Nichika

Nichika (二千花) is a J-rock band that formed in 2006 and debuted with their single Edelweiss i 2007. Edelweiss was used as the ending theme song for the late night music show, COUNTDOWN TV. However, the single only reached #120 and was only charted for three weeks on Oricon. They later released two more singles, Genius Party and Atarashii Mizu, which both failed to chart. Soon after, they released the first and only self-titled album with a total of 12 songs.

Their latest releases are the two singles, Aijou and River’s Edge.

The vocalist, Miyamoto Issui, became a singer after winning the grand prize in a Sony music audition in Fukuoka and she after that went to Tokyo to debut as a solo-artist. However, after she got introduced to songwriter Nomura Youichirou by her musical director, the two started making demo tapes together and then realized that they liked working together, so they decided to form the band Nichika, which means two thousand flowers.

Unfortunately for us, Nichika disbanded in December 2009. Nichika was one of the most impressive bands of 2008 and I still listen to them on a regular basis. I would’ve loved to see a second album before they left the scene, but there’s not much we can do about it. More info on the break-up here.

Enjoy the following videos and definitely get yourself a copy of their album, you’ll not be disappointed.

Check out their MySpace for previews and videos!
