For a while now I’ve been creating iPhone wallpapers of idols, but I’ve never really published an official announcement, so some of you might not be aware of this.
In May last year I came across a blog/iPhone wallpaper site called OTAKUPHONE and I’ve since built a strong relationship with its author, Ragnar. As of today, I’m the one providing idol wallpapers while Ragnar provides all anime/manga wallpapers on the site. In a not so distant future, OTAKUPHONE will be going through a major overhaul getting a more user-friendly user interface and new features (hopefully enabling more users to easily upload their own wallpapers). But until then, the site as it is works just fine, so if you’re in need of a new iPhone wallpaper, definitely check it out!

The sidebar widget will most likely be replaced by a much better solution later on after things have gotten updated over there. As you might know, yonasu.com recently went through a pretty big design change. That design change was pretty popular and I got some really nice feedback for it. However, that design ended up being too complicated, too time-consuming and just not wide enough. I’m becoming more and more interested in photography and video and I want to be able to share all of that in a bigger resolution than the previous 618 pixels. Posting took a lot of effort before too, as I used three different custom fields, I had to manually create 2 or 3 thumbnails for each post. The good thing about the previous layout was being able to show more content on the front page. That was very ambitious of me, but something I couldn’t keep up as I had to post a lot to make it look active (it just wasn’t possible while working 5 days/week with a pretty bad schedule). As you might have seen already, this blog has gotten itself a fairly big design update. This is the result of an all nighter together with Ragunaru from OTAKUPHONE. I’ve had thoughts about updating the layout for quite some time but didn’t find a good solution until yesterday.
As I’m not all that good with the coding part I started with designing a concept layout in Photoshop. You can see the full concept layout here. As you can see, almost everything turned out as planned. We had to change to photo section a little bit because I hadn’t really thought things through, but I’m satisfied with how it looks now anyways. Well, there’s a high chance that the photo section will get a minor design update later today. Oh and the RSS feeds at the bottom were ditched, at least for now. Also missing are the “More” buttons which may or may not be added in the next few days.
The reason for this update was mainly to be able to show more content on the front page and make things more convenient in general. I hope you like it! And if you do you should head over to OTAKUPHONE to show your appreciation to da man himself by drooling over some hot 2D and 3D girls!
