Every single day I find something interesting that is worth to be bookmarked. Those bookmarks end up on my Delicious account, and I don’t know about you, but that’s just not the place where I look for stuff on a regular basis (other than on my own account that is). So I’d like to give some of those links some exposure here on my blog. If you still want more, you could either subscribe to my Delicious RSS feed, or add me to your network there. I try to only add high quality links there, and I write notes for every link so that you really know what you’re clicking on.

I’ll write posts like this every once in a while, the frequency depends on how many interesting things I find. All of these links aren’t related to Japan, the categories varies in each post.

A few days ago I ordered a few badges, 7 to be exact, from Fat Statement. Making badges on Fat Statement is very easy and fun to do, you can add your own pictures (like I usually do), choose from the available symbols and add your own text. Since it’s hard to find official badges from artists, communities etc., this is definitely the easiest way to get your hands dirty, with badges…

The colors are great and they stay in good condition, unless you’re continually scratching them with your keys or expose them to heavy rain too often.

Visit fatstatement.com to create your own!

As you can see, the blog has got itself a little update. I thought it was a bit too corporate-ish, so I decided to give it some new colors, or actually lots of new colors. You see, we need colorful, bright and cheerful websites to survive the autumn and the winter, so go ahead do something awesome to your site, and show me when your done, ‘kay?

Turtles are not who you think they are.

kthxbye

As you can see I’ve made some changes to the header, mostly because it was outdated (it contained some information that wasn’t correct anymore). So why turtles? Well, some of you probably didn’t know this but kame (as in my blog’s name) is the Japanese word for turtle. Of course there’s a story about this word and why it’s a part of this blog’s name, and that is the story I’m going to tell you now!

When I was young (I’m still young, but with that I mean really young) my parents and I adopted three turtles. These turtles were my first pets ever and I loved them very much, until it started to smell that is (which was like 2 weeks later). So we got rid of them and then I got two sand rats instead, but that’s a whole other story. So my first encounter with turtles wasn’t that good but a couple of years later when I started watching anime, the turtles slowly started to come back to me. Turtles are quite common in various animes and in Japanese culture in general, so I couldn’t really escape them. However, my opinion on turtles really changed after this. But this of course isn’t the only reason why I chose to use kame as a part of my blog’s name. Just to make this clear, kame is just a part of the blog’s name while my nickname is Sano (but you might know me as Sanokame from other places since Sano usually is unavailable, I also tend to use kame as a surname).

The real reason why kame came to be a part of my blog’s name is because of a girl, A girl whose name is Eri Kamei. This girl is a member of one of Japan’s most famous all-girl J-pop groups and is also in my top 5 list of female celebrities. Since turtle (kame) is part of her name, this is a subject that is quite often mentioned wherever she might be at the moment. And that is the main reason why I chose to use this word.

That’s the whole story of my relation to turtles and why it’s a part of me and this blog. Why I decided to add the turtles now was because I thought the header was too simple and it didn’t make this blog unique at all.

Just in case you don’t know Eri Kamei I’ll post a couple of pictures of her from her latest photo book.
