Team Batista no Eiko

Published on January 14th, 2009.

Do you like Japanese medical dramas? I’ve only seen two of them (Code Blue and Team Batista no Eiko) and I’ve been quite satisfied with both. Code Blue is better in it’s ways, a more famous main cast for example, but there are really good actors in Team Batista no Eiko as well. For example we have Ito Atsushi, the main character, who’s well known from his role in Densha Otoko. There’s also Shirota Yu from Hana Kimi, besides those two the cast was mostly new faces for me.

Team Batista no Eiko

Team Batista no Eiko is a medical mystery drama, where Taguchi Kohei from the psychosomatic medicine wing of Tojo University Hospital together with Shiratori Keisuke from the Ministry of Health Labor, works as investigators of Team Batista. The team specializes in the Batista procedure which is an heart operation, an operation that has a survival rate of 60%. The reason for the investigation is an ongoing death-roll of patients, the two investigators tries to find the truth behind the recent deaths.

Man, the characters are far too varied for my liking…
Oh avoid N’s Aoi, damn that was boring.. (well first few episodes).
Tomorrow was good first 3-4 episodes then it also got boring.
Code Blue was decent, it is hard to keep you interested for 10/11 episodes if you just focus on patients, operations, etc.
Just like the american show ER (which ran for something like 9-10 series?) you need to have interactivity between characters, off duty character development, character background and even developing side characters like the patients themselves – all this in addition to the blood and guts of a hospital drama.

Haha yeah, the characters are really mixed up…
I liked Code Blue a lot, well, I tend to like pretty much everything those four make ^^ I’ve never really watched ER so I don’t know a lot about it, but I’ve seen Grey’s Anatomy, but that’s kind of a different deal…

Man, the ending was really sad! I cried kind of lot.

      SPOILERS. DON’T READ BELOW

When Himuro (Shirota) talked with Teguchi (Ito) on the phone in that scene where Himuro is at the rooftop, cried once. Then the second time when Shirota was killed (I cried cos i spent money on the DVD to watch SHIROPON…. then he had to die in the middle of disc two.) Third is at the end, when Teguchi suddenly saw everyone ‘back’ in the operation room and working together as Team Batista in its former glory. WOW. THAT PART I CRIED SO HARD. Its like, Shirota and Hiroki (Himuro and Sakai) suddenly appeared in Ito’s eyes, and was working together again, even though they’re not there anymore…. :( WAAAAAHHHH~~!!

      GOD. Its so sad!

I am on the last part of episode 10. Let me tell you I was some mad when they killed off Shirota’s charcter so early in the show: he was totally awesome and believeable in the part. I hate the character of Taguchi Kohei, he is such a hypocrit! I sneaking around and easydropping, lying with his partner Shiratori Keisuke, but quick to point the finger at someone else’s fault. What are they doing trying to ruin this doctor? What does it prove? The man did save many lives and they can not ascertain for sure that he cause those deaths. Doctors are humans not God!
I really like the character of Kiryu Kyoichi, I think he is an honorable man; Taguchi is just nothing but a lying hypocrit who throw stones and hide his hands; pretending to be so caring and trying to be helpful; seems like he and his partner are on a witch hunt. really dislike those two guys the leave a distaste in my mouth!
