Technology & Games

Aren’t you bored of all the unboxing videos floating around doing the same thing? “This is the charger, the driver cds, plug in your headphones here” and so on, I choose funny over thorough any day. And quite unsurprisingly, Megwin is here to save the day with the best iPad unboxing ever!

If that didn’t make you laugh, I don’t know what will! And not only that, if you haven’t seen enough iPad magic, Megwin’s got more^^ [click to continue…]

So the computer I’ve been talking about is this, a Mac mini. I had been thinking about what to get for quite some time as my two-year old MacBook is starting to get on my nerves. Mainly because the fans go all hurricane as soon as you start watching a YouTube video in HD. It was a bit on the slow side, but served and will continue to serve me well for portable use.

So I just went down to the nearest Apple premium reseller the day after I decided to get one, and 20 minutes later I was unpacking my new baby. The fact that they don’t use plastic bags made me happy^^ [click to continue…]

zoome TDKI VideoA few weeks ago I stumbled upon this application called zoome TDKI and what it does is that it lets you watch and listen to Vocaloid music videos on your iPhone. It’s like the YouTube app but only for Vocaloid videos!

TDKI is a “user circle” in the Japanese video sharing service “zoome” and all of the videos are original user-generated works featuring popular Vocaloid characters, such as Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len. With the app’s main features you can browse the latest videos, see daily rankings, browse by category and search. Since it’s a Japanese application (although with an English interface), it’s good if you can type in Japanese if you want to search.

Since zoome is a Japanese video sharing service, loading videos can be a bit slow at times, unless you’re actually in Japan. But just GIVE IT A SECOND!

Anyways, if you’re a Vocaloid fan you should definitely give it a try, it’s a free app. Search for zoome TDKI on your iPhone or click this link to open it up in iTunes.

And if you know how to navigate through a Japanese site, here’s TDKI’s homepage.

Bijin-Tokei girl 3Even as an iPhone user I never thought I would actually pay for simple clock applications, but oh how wrong I was. This is my third clock application, first one being Flip Clock, second being Danny Choo’s MiraiClock. Bijin-Tokei launched earlier this year as a web application and it’s basically a rotation of cute girls holding up a blackboard with the time. The picture updates every minute and the girls have a few pictures each.

The difference between the web app and the iPhone app is that with the web app you can also see the girl’s name, birthday, blood type, height, occupation, favorite website, 3size (rare) and where she lives (not their full address unfortunately^^). While the iPhone app misses all of that, it makes a good desk clock, and if you want to look them up you can always go to the web app since they use the same girls for both.

You can use the iPhone app as an alarm clock as well, although keep in mind that it’s an app, and apps can crash. There’s also only 5 sounds you can choose from. Anyways, here’s a video of it, not much to show really but you need to be convinced! If the app can’t convince you, maybe Kagamikku can^^

If you like it, it’s $2.99 (¥350). Search for bijin-tokei or click this link.

Wired Apple Keyboard Box

So after waiting for 5 days for my wireless Apple keyboard to dry, I’ve given up on it. There can’t possibly be any water left in it now, it has improved however, it doesn’t randomly click on keys by itself anymore for example. Actually it’s only the b key that isn’t working and that key didn’t get a lot of water on it. Well, I’ll keep it in the closet for now and try it again in a week or two, ’cause you never know with technology! [click to continue…]

Just about 3 months ago I got myself a brand new wireless Apple Keyboard, you know the insanely expensive slim Apple keyboard ($100+). It has served me well but today I bring sad news, yesterday morning it passed on.

Dead Wirless Apple Keyboard

As we all know, this is the best keyboard on the market, so you can imagine how heartbreaking this is to see for me. I’m almost causing another flood over this crappy Fujitsu Siemens keyboard, a flood of my own tears that is. [click to continue…]

Microsoft Arc Mouse and VoIP Microphone

So I’ve finally bought it, the Microsoft Arc mouse. I’ve mentioned it on Twitter before but it took me a while to actually get it, but better late than never. I also bought myself a noname VoIP microphone since the built-in microphone in the MacBook unfortunately doesn’t work very well with the lid closed. [click to continue…]

Snow Leopard

Just wondering what people actually think of their brand new Snow Leopard. Have you noticed much difference or do you feel like it was a waste of money?

As for me, I’ve noticed a few improvements but there are currently three things that annoy me, two of them not being Apple’s fault however. [click to continue…]

Mac Musume

Hundreds, if not thousands of reasons have been brought up about the good and the bad about Windows and Macs (OS X). Fans of both operating systems tend to be a little naive and as we all know, discussing the two usually doesn’t lead anywhere. But today I’m giving you the one and only reason why you need to get a Mac, Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai. Yeah that’s right, the leader of the morning daughters is a Mac fangirl, did you hear that fellow Morning Musume fans? A Mac fan. [click to continue…]

What’s the worst thing that has happened to any of your electronics? This happened to my IBM ThinkPad when I put it under a halogen lamp for about 2 minutes, if not less. I of course don’t use this anymore, I haven’t for about 1.5 years or so. Decided to give it away to my uncle since it still works, it’s just the lid that won’t close. Well, this is definitely the worst thing that has happened to any of my electronics. I don’t have any halogen lamps on my desk anymore, you should be careful with them too, if you have any!
