The First Successful Johnny’s Idol Group: Four Leaves

Published on January 20th, 2011.

Formed in 1967, Four Leaves was the second group and the first success from the talent agency Johnny’s & Associates. Four Leaves was a four-member group and they debuted in 1968 with their single Olivia no Shirabe.

With Four Leaves being the first successful group, we definitely have them to thank for keeping the talent agency alive giving us groups like Arashi and SMAP.

Four Leaves disbanded in 1978 but was reunited in 2002 and continued to perform for 7 more years. In 2009 their lead singer, Takashi Aoyama, died of cancer which ultimately led to the group disbanding again.

Although the music itself might not be the most appealing to the younger generations today, they’re certainly a lovable bunch^^

Ah…Johnny Kitagawa…how I love you for your dream to create the biggest boy group agency in Japan and showing me the way, the light, the storm….
    *being dramatic*
Yes, its really interesting just how far back JE goes! I think Johnny Kitagawa was in his 30s when he started his company…so he is pretty old now.

Yeah, when people hear Johnny’s Entertainment they usually just think of Arashi and SMAP. Johnny Kitagawa will turn 80 this year!

Interesting, I’ve heard of them but never seen any performances. Hikaru Genji were hilarious with the rollerskates that they had.
There are so many people signed to JE that you wouldn’t even think of like Masahiro Motoki that was in Departures.
Johhny doesn’t involve himself to much with the business nowadays,it’s his daughter Mary who is in control and they say she’s one scary lady.

Even Toma Ikuta is signed under Johnny’s.

I heard that there are no pictures of Johnny, I wonder what he looks like….

    • Jenny

Yes, Ikuta has been rumoured to be in so many groups(I think he was suppose to be in Kanjani 8) but I actually like him better as a actor.
There has been a few pics of good old Johnny, I’m more interested in how Mary looks ^^
