I’m officially moving to WordPress, I’ve purchased new web hosting and everything. The sad thing is that I’ll have to do a domain transfer which means that this blog will probably be down for 5-7 days. I’ll most definitely also have problems with email so in the meantime, if things aren’t working, you can mail me at sanokame@gmail.com. Once this blog goes down for a few days, it might be available on yonasu.blogspot.com
This is a PAIN but it has to be done. Please be patient! :D
(Things might magically work while they’re working on the transfer too, who knows? ^^)

You won’t regret the move, especially with WP 2.7.
Your site shouldn’t go down because of a domain transfer. All of the contents should be copied over to the new server, and then you simply point the DNS at your new webhost. Shouldn’t take more than 24 hours. (I just went through the process for the 3rd time in as many years)

yea it shouldn’t take so long. just copy files to new host including database. make a backup for yourself, use any of the many conversion scripts available (you using blogger now right) and then point over your DNS from your domain registrar.

I know it should be that easy, but the thing is that I have to transfer the domain to another domain registrar (which I know sounds weird, but that’s what has to be done). The stuff I have to do myself is the easy part.
5 to 7 days? Isn’t that a bit long? Normally things are done within 24 hours, at most 48 hours.
It is indeed a long time, but it’s not just a DNS change. I don’t know why 5-7 days is needed, but both eNom (through Google) and my web host says so.

Yeah, I love WordPress too, but I had some issues with it when I used it (but that was a long time ago). Seems like the transfer is going pretty smooth, the site won’t have to be down for very long!
