Tokyo TowerPublished on January 16th, 2010.
Tokyo Tower is definitely a place you have to visit on your first trip to Tokyo. After talking to my friend Dean for a while I decided to spend a whole day there rather than going both there and to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
It didn’t take long to Tokyo Tower from Hanzomon. I had to transfer twice though. If you’re coming from Hanzomon this is the route:
Hanzomon (Hanzomon Line) -> Otemachi (Chiyoda Line) -> Hibiya (Hibiya Line) -> Kamiyacho
When you go out, make sure to make a left. Holland Holls Mori Tower should be on your left side. You should also see a Toyota store on the other side of the street.
Eventually you’re going to see this sign^^
Tokyo Tower is just around the corner.
Got myself a Pepsi NEX from one of the vending machines on the way. This is the best Pepsi ever ;)
All of a sudden up in the tower and looking out the windows, forgot to take photos of the entrance, but there’s really not much to see there. The girls behind the ticket counter speaks English. “A ticket to the main observatory” should do.
Could even see my hotel from here.
Was hard to get good shots sometimes because of the reflection in the windows.
Not a lot of people there during the day, there were more people coming later in the evening.
A little shrine up there in the sky too^^
Goods shop with t-shirts, miniature towers etc.
Way too touristy for me :P They have t-shirts saying “I love Tokyo Tower” too, haha.
The main observatory has 2 floors, when you go up they take you to the 2nd floor. On the first floor is a cafe and the Club 333 stage.
Definitely best to go here on a Wednesday or Thursday if you intend to spend the whole day or evening here.
On the first floor they also have looking down windows!
Got me a nice cup of coffee before going down to the “Foot Town”.
They have a statistics section on the 4th floor, this shows how students have grown during the past 60 or so years.
A rock store for those who are into that. Went in but didn’t buy anything.
Things to look at when you need to rest a bit.
Stopped at Pizza-La to get a slice. The menus are in Japanese only.
This slice was rather amazing I have to say. Give it a try when you’re there, it’s the salami one^^
I also checked out the Wax doll museum, the guinness record museum and a few other places but unfortunately you’re not allowed to publish photos of all places on the web. You’ll just have to go see for yourself!
I definitely prefer looking over Tokyo at night, it’s really nice with all the blinking lights.
Finally before going home I saw jaja perform at Club 333. A really good jazz band!
Finally at around 8 o clock I’m heading back home. Tokyo Tower was really great and if you go there you can definitely spend a whole day there. Very much recommended!
