Have you ever thought of getting a tattoo of your favorite idol? I haven’t seen many wotas with tattoos related to idols but this is Sev’s tattoo which basically says “I love Kamei Eri”. You’ll find Sev in the Hello! Online forums.
I think this is a really nice tattoo and I’m sure I wouldn’t regret having this on my shoulder for the rest of my life, unless Kamei decided to kill my parents or something, you never know, right?
I’ve had thoughts of getting a tattoo myself, but I’ve been held off because of the stories of not being allowed into public onsens in Japan. And also because I’m not sure what I would want to have on me. I did think of getting the kanji for turtle on my shoulder, but tattooing just a kanji might be a little too ordinary. So I’ll have to think of that some more.
Well, what do you think of tattooing your favorite idol’s name or face, or perhaps butt somewhere on you? Do you think you would regret it if you lost your interest? I think that even if I did lose my interest it would still have been a big part of my life, so I wouldn’t regret it. I’d just need to find an understanding wife who doesn’t mind me loving another girl!
If you know anyone with wota/otaku tattoos, please share pictures if you have! And if you had to tattoo something idol related on you, what would you get?

Yeah, wota tattoo seems to be a little much… I’m not a wota (I guess) but I certainly fangirl my fair share of haiyuu (mostly guys), but I’d be worried about the following things:
1) It’s *possible* you’ll discover someone else you like better…
I know, hard to believe Σ(゜д ゜)
2) kanji tattoos *are* overdone. Every time I see one I wonder whether the person who has it actually knows what it means……
3) onsens o.O I expect you can hide a smallish tattoo, but that one is pretty prominent…
1) Indeed, that’s definitely a possibility. But if you’ve liked that idol for many years I think it’d be okay even if you found a new favorite. Since that first favorite probably was a pretty big part of your life.
2) True. I think it’s pretty lame when you get a tattoo like 愛 (love), just because it means love. If I decided to get a kanji tattoo, I’d get a kanji that I could relate to something other than just the meaning.
3) Yeah well it’s kind of inconvenient to have to hide a part of your body all the time. And I’m all for convenience, so even a small one would be annoying to have in this situation in my opinion.
“…I’d just need to find an understanding wife who doesn’t mind me loving another girl!”
That’s easy. Find a Kamei fan girl to be your wife XD
Haha yeah, ’cause that’s so easy… xD Well, most fan girls would probably be fine with it, I think…
I’d get the kanji for “Sexy Beam!!!” lol
That would be written in katakana though, which in my opinion would look cooler than kanji^^
Still, it’s a cute well done tattoo…. at least he know what’s written on it xD
Yeah, it’s a lot better than just a random dragon or something, since it actually means something “important” to him.
I don’t are how much I love you or how obsessed I am, to permanently put you on my body…um…no.
Haha okay :P I guess there are other ways to show your appreciation than permanently putting it on your body^^
Idol tattoos are HARDCORE.
I’ve already got mine partially designed :Db
Oh really? :D Let me see!
An idol tattoo isn’t really for me. I think it’s kind of tacky. And in a way it’s like you’re proving that you’re a fan.
I could also see regretting that down the line. But even if you did regret it you could still laugh and say, “I can’t believe I used to be so obsessed with Kamei Eri.”
I also don’t know how much I’d like my husband having that tattoo. It would just be awkward.
But, I have considered getting Miyavi’s named tattooed on me somewhere. But only because his name is written with the character for elegant. And no one would ever really know. Miyavi’s not an idol, but somehow that’s relevant. XD
Haha yeah, even if you lose your interest it’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s like looking at old photos. That’s good though, getting a tattoo of a name that can mean something totally different^^
I think it’s not a good idea. I was thinking about to have a Hamasaki Ayumi tattoo when I was really into her music like 10-8 years ago. Now I am not into her that much anymore and I am glad I didn’t do it.
I got 2 tattoo’s and none are wota ones. Tho one is asian themed but that’s diferent. You can never know where you are going to be in the future. Imagine if you are in Japan and get a GF and then she see’s your wota tattoo wen you are just about to get to score. I don’t think any girl in Japan would like to see another girls name on you. If it’s a non japanese GF you could just lie and say it means tiger or brave or something. But you wont get away with that in Japan. I think I am never be able to go to an onsen in Japan, well prehapps into a private one if I am lucky. Also think about tattoo’s if they could affect you in your job. In some places you have to wear a short sleved shirt or tshirt and not all places accept it.
Tattoos have never been for me, but there are some really fantastic ones out there. And in the end, a person should do what they like, even if they’ll wake up at age 60 and realize they’re over Kitty-chan. Be smart about it – don’t make it impossible to cover up should you need to take your Kojima Yoshio worship down a notch for, say, a job interview.
I’ve always had a fantasy, though, of having a mermaid tattooed in my bicep. You know, so I could make the bitch dance. but to be barred from an onsen? Or a Jewish cemetery? I’m not Jewish, but I still hate the thought of being barred from anything.
Haha! A Kojima Yoshio tattoo would be awesome! But yeah, it’s probably a good idea to get it at a place that’s easy to cover up.
I’ve been thinking about getting one for a few months now, and finally got one done a couple weeks ago. http://pic.im/8tJ
Hey, everyone needs *some* kind of standards :D
Hey. Don’t knock dragons, though mine is hardly random: it was based upon a drawing on the wall of the Carlton Arms Hotel in NYC. Stayed there when I got another tattoo based upon an ukiyo-e print from the 1600s.
Don’t get me wrong, that was just an example, I have nothing against dragons. It’s just something that I’ve seen on people that just have them because they look good.
I just think that there has to be some kind of connection between the tattoo and the owner, which you obviously have. Maybe it’s just me but I think it’s important to be able to give decent answers to “what does it mean?” and “what does it mean to you?” :)
We do agree. I was being defensive with tongue firmly embedded in cheek. I can always tell that the other artists are interested in the Tattoos I get; they always say how sick they are of doing names, stars on women’s toes, etc.
Maybe when its done ;)
Right, let me know when it’s done then^^
