Yamada Taro Monogatari

This is the story about Yamada Taro, a freshman on a scholarship at Ichinomiya Private Senior High School. Taro is a very intelligent, handsome and athletic boy who together with his friend, Mimura Takuya, are the most popular boys at school. But what the other students don’t know, is that Taro actually is extremely poor and lives in a small house with his mother and his six brothers and sisters. Taro himself never told anyone about his economical situation, but because of his looks and elegance, everyone assumes that he’s very rich. Because of the mother’s weak body and the father’s absence, Taro has to work part-time and do everything he can to even bring food to the table.

Yamada Taro is played by Ninomiya Kazunari from Arashi, one of my favorite Japanese actors, and he does a great job as usual. Sakurai Sho (also from Arashi) has the role of Taro’s best friend, Mimura Takuya. Another interesting person in this drama is Ikegami Takako, played by Tabe Mikako, who’s pretty new in the field of acting. She acts as the girl who’s only goal is to get a tama no koshi (to marry a rich husband). But unfortunately she fells in love with Taro who surely does not have a mansion with hundreds of butlers serving him.

I do recommend this drama, it’s very funny! I was impressed by Tabe Mikako and I’m definitely going to watch more of her dramas in the future. And just seeing Nino dressed up as a maid is amazingly funny. And last but not least, well worth mentioning is the great acting by Fukiishi Kazue who’s acting as Taro’s homeroom teacher, I bet comedy is her middle name!

Sounds like a good idea! ;)

I really need more time, I want to watch a couple of dramas (including Kurosagi) again, but I have so many new dramas to watch…
