Yesterday I started working on a Japanese version of this blog. My Japanese still isn’t too good, but I see this as a great opportunity to improve as I get to write about stuff I like instead of stuff based on textbooks. People who are better than me and natives can also help me by correcting my mistakes, I even got corrected on my first post, haha, but I really appreciate it!
The Japanese version is not a translation of the English blog, on the Japanese version I’ll try to focus on things that aren’t Japanese (but occasionally Japan related posts too). As you can see I haven’t completely decided what to write about, but I have a few ideas I’m working on.
So if you can read Japanese, feel free to subscribe and follow me over there as well!
Just click on 日本語のブログ in the header or click here.
Oh and I’m sorry about yesterday, I tried to do all this on the fly and accidentally crashed the English blog, so I had to go into maintenance mode for a while.

You stole my idea. ;) j/k. I had an idea to do this in about a year or so when I learned a lot more Japanese.
I am curios about what all it took for you to do this. And i’ll keep watching as it looks like fun definitely am going to do this myself.
Oh cool, you should do that when you’re ready! I’ve had this in mind for quite some time now and I think I’m ready now, but I will make errors. But making mistakes is good.
The Japanese blog is running on it’s own WordPress installation since that saves me a lot of time customizing everything and I want it to be separated from the English blog. I’m using the Japanese WordPress installation but it took me quite some time to customize the theme and there’s still a few things I need to translate.
have this idea too but at the rate i am going it will be another decade before a japanese version of my blog is launched :D
I’ll surf over there to practise when I started delving deeper into kanji
Ah ok, cool. Didn’t think about running the japanese installation. Actually was going to look at a way to run both blogs from the same installation, but would probably have to do a lot of custom coding to get it working.
For me to do it it all depends on how fast I learn the kanji and more complex sentences. Right now I am in the. “I ran down the street” phase of my sentences.
Congrats on setting it up will be excited to see how it goes for you. You should do an update on the english side once a month on how it goes.
Yeah, I was thinking about using the current installation but it would just take more time. As long as I use the same theme they’ll be connected in a way.
You can probably pull it off in half a year or so! Use the blog to improve your reading and writing skills :)
Thanks and I’ll definitely keep the English blog updated!
