Yoyogi Park and Meiji Shrine with Friends

in Japan

After missing my first meetup because of jet lag I was finally a few days later able to meet up with some friends! This time I met up with Magnus from my old Japanese class and his friend Lisa. As I hadn’t been to Yoyogi Park and Meiji Shrine yet I decided to join them.

We asked a guy who tried to sell his art to us outside the entrance, and apparently they are koi fish^^

Both this and the koi fish were placed outside Yoyogi Park in celebration of the completion of Tohoku Shinkansen Line.

My friends, Lisa and Magnus!

Me and Lisa!

And Magnus and me!^^

These gates are huge!

Greenery is very nice even at this time of the year. If you want to you can pay a small sum to take some smaller paths through the woods, but we didn’t do that.

Many things to look at as you walk through the park.

Barrels of wine and champagne(?) from France for some reason, looks nice though!

Eventually arrived at Meiji Shrine. If you’re going to pray you have to clean your hands and mouth here before.

Entrance to Meiji Shrine.

If you’re going in, which you should, be sure to not step on the raised door sill.

You can’t see from the outside, but once you enter you’ll see this huge square which is really cool^^

Magnus again, sitting on this tree’s weird roots!

We actually went to Harajuku and to Roppongi later but decided to split the posts up, so you’ll see more soon :)

It took me all this time to realize I’m not following you via RSS D: Anyway, it looks like you’re having fun! I have to go check up on all the rest of your posts now, haha.

Nice Meiji Shrine pics — it’s a nice place :)

Now that I’m back from Japan I hope you know I’m relying on your blog posts and @sandkatt’s twitpics to vicariously continue my Japan trip.

Also, how do you know so many people in Japan despite this being your first trip!? Impressive.

Thanks! Yeah, Meiji is nice :)

I haven’t read your posts yet actually, will do when I get home, so we’ll both rely on each other^^

I studied Japanese for a year at the University of Gothenburg. Got to know many people there, 4 of which are studying in Tokyo right now, and a couple of others studying elsewhere in Japan. Besides them, a few bloggers and other online friends^^
